Rest & Reconnect LV Loves Organizers!

Rest & Reconnect LV follows a sustainable organizer model; we prioritize collaboration, shared learning, and accessibility.

Organizers are not expected to arrive with professional experience. Instead, participants learn through hands-on work while building skills. Community organizing is complex, so organizers may improve a broad range of skills.

All organizers should expect to attend regular weekly to bi-weekly meetings, when possible. We validate your experience! Organizers may request verification of volunteer or organizing hours.

The goal of the Rest & Reconnect LV Organizing structure is simple: build community while helping disabled organizers gain life and practical experience.

Rest & Reconnect LV Community Roles

Participant

A Participant is anyone who attends a Rest & Reconnect LV event. There is no membership system.

Organizer

An Organizer is someone on the leadership and support team who helps keep the grassroots organization operating and contributes their skills.

What Else Should I Expect as an Organizer?

Rest & Reconnect LV believes in the growth and development of its organizers.

Volunteers are encouraged to explore new responsibilities; learn the history of grassroots organizing, and participate in local non-disability issues.

Mutual aid is increasingly Rest & Reconnect LV's outreach and sustainability plan. New ideas and initiatives to support disabled people in Las Vegas are always welcome.

Our process is simple!

  1. Set up a friendly 1-on-1 with Laya to learn about Rest & Reconnect LV and share your skills. Sign up for a RRLV Organizer Interest Session block on our communal Teamup calendar, Organizer Appointments & Training .

  2. If you're ready to be an Organizer, attend our onboarding training, where you'll learn:

    1. Accessible event planning
    2. Cybersecurity Basics
    3. Independent Living Philosophy
    4. And much more!

  3. Officially become an Organizer to connect with the community!
