Who We Are

Rest & Reconnect LV was founded by Laya , a Community Organizer and disability self-advocate who moved to Las Vegas in 2024. Recognizing the impact of social isolation on disabled adults, she established a Meetup group that became the foundation for RRLV.

Laya's Intersectional Organizing Framework draws on her experience with over 10 nonprofit and community organizations. RRLV is inspired by the Independent Living philosophy and Tricia Hersey's Rest Is Resistance: A Manifesto. Under her leadership, RRLV has trained Community Organizers and held fundraisers to promote disability justice and the joy of self-advocacy.
